Aperto gets FCC approval

MILPITAS, Calif. – The Federal Communications Commission has approved Aperto Networks’ line of PacketMAX subscriber units and base station the 3.65 GHz band in the United States.

“Aperto has signed up over a dozen customers interested in deploying PacketMAX based WiMAX networks across the nation. They have been waiting for this announcement before launching commercial service,” said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and alliances for Aperto Networks. “This is the final step in offering a complete solution for the lightly-licensed 3.65 GHz band. It means that many service providers can now cost-effectively compete head-to-head with larger established operators and benefit from WiMAX technology.”

The Milpitas, Calif.-based Aperto Networks is a maker of fixed and mobile WiMAX base stations and subscriber units.
